Dr. P. N. Sharma did B.Sc. (Agriculture) and M.Sc(agriculture) from Agriculture College, JNKVV, Jabalpur. He associated himself with Extension Education for Agriculture Since 1962 and Remain associated with the agriculture colleges of Jabalpur, M.P, Rewa, Sehore and Raipur for research studies and works related to extension Education. In 1971 he was selected for Full Bright Scholarship at National level and he obtained his Ph.D. in extension Education from cornel University, USA in 1974.
Dr. Sharma is the first Extension educationist who received and honored with the ISEE fellow Award-1998 brought laurel to the state. He is the first scientist who contributed for the establishment of the first Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Chattisgarh at Bilaspur in 1984, this proved as a milestone for the development of more KVKs in the state. He offered his valuable services for 6 years at Bilaspur and later on transferred to Raipur to take over as professor and Head of the Department of Extension Education, Indira Gandhi Agriculture University, Raipur. He initiated and started at the post graduate program in Extension Education. He is the credit to his profession, to this state and to our country. His immense dedication to his profession area of Extension Education and his outstanding contribution has recognized him as a person of letters and spirits, Rank and file, a well-known personality, who matters in extension fraternity. Dr. Sharma has retired from the post of director Extension, IGAU, Raipur on December 31, 2001 having contributed 39 years of his various capacities. He is diligent and devoted teacher/Extension scientist, who is highly oriented to the cause of advancing the welfare of rural people.
