Shri Narayanbhai Chawda of Gomchi village, district Raipur said that he was persuaded by other farmers to participate in the competition, but never expected to receive the first prize in All India Rice Crop Competition (1976-77). He got the highest award of the country (Three thousand Cash and recognition of “Krishi Pandit???). He has also been invited for flag hoisting in All India Agricultural Fair. On 13th November the Prime Minister inaugurated this fair and just after Krishi Pandit Narayanbhai Chawda hoisted the National Flag over there. |
He did his B.Sc. (Ag.) in 1964, but he had no experience of improved agriculture. He was taking only vegetable crops in his 35 acres of land. He faced a lot of problems in vegetable cultivation due to heavy attack of insect pest and diseases. Ultimately he decided to experiment with paddy for in first time in 1972. This decision, though has been taken by him to get rid of problems, but has resulted as a profitable experience. He took 30 quintals of paddy/acre production. The cost of cultivation increased was Rs. 1300/-. Later on Shri Chawda tried for minimizing the cost of cultivation which he could do so as now it come down to Rs. 800/-. |
