Bitter Gourd is commonly known as Karela. Though it has bitter taste but lot of people eat it with taste. It can be prepared in many forms & have vide acceptance all across the geographies.
Bitter gourd–the plant as a whole has many medicinal use. The fruit has germicidal qualities and is used for treating blood diseases and diabetes. Bitter gourd leaves are known to act as galactogogs , while the roots are astringent. Juices from the leaves are used against lysmenorrhea as well as for external eruptions, burns & boils. A powder prepared from the plant is good for treating intractable ulcers.
