VNR Seeds strongly believes in giving back to society through various social, economic and environmental initiatives. And the company’s CSR activities reflect the philosophy. 

CSR Committee

The VNR CSR Committee is responsible for formulating, updating and reviewing the CSR policy, indicating the activities to be undertaken, recommending and preparing the budget for the CSR activities. It also executes CSR activities and reports to the Board of Directors.

CSR Objectives

The CSR Committee aims to makes a positive impact on people and communities while contributing to a sustainable future and everyone connected to it.

The company, therefore, strives to undertake activities that help educate and empower the communities it works with and around. So, promotion of education/special education and vocational skills, sports, aiding economic development, promoting preventive health care, among others, form an integral part of VNR’s CSR activities.

Ever since its inception many years ago, VNR has worked towards enriching lives across various segments of rural society. The CSR wing was formally constituted, and its bandwidth now covers four broad areas of focus, apart from various miscellaneous activities.

CSR Projects for the financial year 2022-2023

For the financial year 2022-2023, the Company has undertaken the following areas/activities as CSR initiatives in accordance with the classifications defined in Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013:

For the financial year 2021-2022, the Company has undertaken the following areas/activities as CSR initiatives in accordance with the classifications defined in Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013:

The CSR wing organizes regular activities to help raise knowledge and awareness quotients in rural communities and also boost means of livelihood. It also strives to improve the learning environment for children. Its scope of work covers:  

  • Familiarization with and training on the latest agricultural technology through various forums and conferences.
  • Educational tours for understanding farming practices.
  • Bolstering educational opportunities in villages across Chhattisgarh by providing premises for schools, meals to students, distributing uniforms/winter wear and stationary, and by providing drinking water facilities, like water tanks, to ensure clean, potable water for children.
  • Running awareness campaigns on different socially relevant subjects through various NGO.

Healthcare is of prime importance to VNR’s CSR wing, which helmed a project to provide infrastructure for a dispensary in Kohadiya village in Chhattisgarh.

The company also believes in the overall wellness of its stakeholders across the rural and urban society. Therefore, sports activities are among its top CSR priorities. The scope of work here covers:

  • Promotion of various youth and recreational sports in the form of sponsorships and donations through various competitions and tournaments across Chhattisgarh.

VNR is acutely sensitized on environmental issues. The CSR wing, therefore, strives to take up initiatives for environmental sustainability and minimal carbon footprint. Work done in this domain includes:

  • Plantation of almost 1,500 plants at its processing plant site in and around project sites.

Some of the other CSR activities undertaken by VNR include:

  • Distribution of blankets, clothes, etc. to villagers in Chhattisgarh.
  • Distribution of seeds of vegetables, cereals and fruits to farmers, free of cost. Seeds have also been distributed to NGOs and various ashrams for the needy.
